Are you in acute pain? Are you struggling to stand up straight or move much without bracing and grimacing?
Are you unable to work or do sports?
Do you have a low mood and unable to have a social life?
Are you unable to sleep or concentrate?
Do you feel like you’re stuck with the pain forever? Our fully qualified osteopaths are primary healthcare practitioners and will diagnose the problem at your first appointment. From here immediate treatment will begin and any appropriate referrals (MRI scanning for example) can be arranged. You’ll know what’s wrong and have a treatment plan to deal with it.
Now you know what’s wrong, you’re feeling relieved change is happening.
You have reduced pain and improved function.
You’re sleeping better and have a more positive outlook on life and your social life is returning.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel, you’re back to work but not yet ready to return to the gym or sports.
Your body is healing, inflammation levels are dropping.
Your osteopath is working to stabilise the structures from a mechanically neutral perspective.
Your bones are in the right place, and we work together to keep it that way.
Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.’ - Jim Ryun
Now we have neutralised your pain and stabilised your injury, your body may lull you into a false sense of security and you may feel ready to take on the world! However, our journey is not yet complete!
We now need to create new habits for your movement patterns so that you can integrate them into everyday life and mobilise your body.
This is the time to discuss with your practitioner your ongoing treatment plan to prepare you for setting your goals.
You are now pain free most of the time.
You occasionally remember how it was but otherwise forgotten all about it.
You may have intermittent recognition of your previous problem, but you’re now armed with the information and ability to know what to do about it.
You’re back to doing sports and going to the gym.
You’re waking up after a good night’s sleep and feeling rested.
You’ve learnt to trust in your body and feel no vulnerability. Your osteopath will meet with you again in 3 months to make sure all is well and pick up on any regression or new problems. You both reflect on what happened and why you are feeling fine now.
Let’s keep it that way!
With your new positive outlook, you’re looking to the future.
What do you want to do with this ‘new’ body?
Try new sports or hobbies? Achieve personal bests?
Your osteopath will now check you every six months to give you an MOT and nip any future problems in the bud.
The osteopaths at Bridgeham will look into what went wrong and what is causing the current levels of pain and discomfort you are experiencing. From here they will then spend time working out the reasons WHY it went wrong and what to do to try and prevent it happening again. A continually evaluated treatment plan will ensure both you and your practitioners know where you are on your road to recovery.
The osteopaths at Bridgeham are post grad trained in a patient centred multi-disciplinary approach. They are aware of their skills and their scope of practice. Within the treatment plan they are aware when to refer on to a colleague with other specialised skills, eg a Pilates movement rehabilitation practitioner for further work on leg tracking. Bridgeham is a hub for specialist practitioners and you are at the centre. Unless we need to refer you along for scans or blood tests or surgical interventions, your treatment pathway all takes place under one roof.
What makes osteopathy at Bridgeham Clinic special? As well as being an award-winning practice with the friendliest, most caring osteopaths you’ll meet, our osteopaths are different.
We look beyond the passive treatment that removes obstacles to health and go one step further.
