Massage is...

  • A great non-invasive method of reducing muscular tension.
  • A good way to assist the body to relax.
  • At Bridgeham it can help with osteopathic treatments that may be more difficult to perform if soft tissue structures are tight.
  • Assists in the drainage of excess fluid around joints that may have been damaged increasing the joints pain free range of movement, thus encouraging better articulation of the joint.
  • A way of reducing stress levels for some! According to The Franklin Institute on the human brain and stress, “Massage releases endorphins that calm the peripheral nervous system.”
  • Beneficial after an event like a marathon or after hard training whether for fun or if it is your chosen professional sports career.
  • A great way to say thank you to your ‘self’, to your body for all the work it does to continually carry and move you from A to B! Massage is so good for the soul!

Massage at Bridgeham

We're delighted to offer a variety different types of massage at the clinic to support your Broken to Brilliant® journey!

Deep Tissue Massage

Sports massage - can be a fairly firm massage, not intended to cause any pain. It increases blood supply to the muscles and promotes drainage from the muscles. It can be stimulating to enhance performance before an event and drain lactic acid after an event. It helps injury recovery and softens the tension in the body to improve its function. Read more about the benefits of sports massage here.

Massage with an osteopath - the osteopath will assess you and decide the best areas to work with according to your history. This massage is super specific and not necessarily the typical “relaxation massage” one may expect from a sports or therapeutic relaxation massage.

Therapeutic & Relaxation Massage

Allow your body the space, the time and the touch, relaxing music and diffusers set the scene. Feel your muscles transform from cold stone concrete to vital healthy tissue.

Relax. Let go. Let yourself be. It's your time.

Meridian massage - this is ideal if you are keen to try to acupuncture but unsure of needles. Learn more here.

Aroma massage - can be part of the healing process as a way of applying the oils into the skin to penetrate the body, causing relaxation and calmness. It can also increase circulation, help lymphatic flow and aid the release of trapped toxins.

Reflexology - read more about this ancient practice here.

I first met Michelle in January when I decided to treat myself to some reflexology. At the time I had difficulty walking due to pain caused by plantar fasciitis and a very sore stiff arthritic knee, as well as mental stress and strain. Michelle was kind, approachable and very professional from the first appointment, she took time to understand what my problems were and to formulate a plan. More to the point, over a few sessions she ‘fixed’ me and I noticed a huge improvement in all aspects from the very first session. Since then Michelle has helped me through a bad back from over ambitious gardening, stress induced anxiety, and most recently Polymyalgia. I always feel so great after a session with Michelle and the all over sense of well-being generally lasts until my next visit. I have recommended Michelle to friends and family who have also all found her treatments most beneficial. I look forward to my appointments and am so thankful for having found such a wonderful skilled person. She’s great!
